Head of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said today that it is completely unacceptable for the Serbian government that Agim Ceku, a man who should be tried for crimes he has committed, be elected to any political function.
In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Djuric said that the Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes has filed charges against Ceku for committing war crimes, and an international arrest warrant has been issued for him.
He said that today in Europe, and probably in the rest of the world, there is not a single government that has a president who has committed war crimes.
Djuric said that responsible representatives of the international community in charge of Kosovo-Metohija are under the obligation to protect elementary norms of civilisation, and prevent all values on which democratic society is based, from being exposed to ridicule by the election of Agim Ceku.
