Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali spoke today with Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) Christopher Hill about current economic topics in Serbia and the region.
Mali expressed his satisfaction with the financial results of Serbia in a year marked by global economic pressures, adding that the revenues are higher than planned so far and that the budget will be revised, after which the money will be further distributed according to priorities.
These are certainly large infrastructural projects that we have started and that we are planning, but also subsidies to farmers, as well as allocations for the treatment of rare diseases and treatment abroad, the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
During the meeting, the realisation of current projects was also discussed, such as the construction of the Moravian Corridor, on which American companies are working, as well as plans for the construction of a tunnel through the centre of Belgrade, the bypass around Kragujevac, the Zrenjanin-Novi Sad section, and other.
Hill assessed that Serbia is achieving excellent results, with a special reference to the success of our country in winning the organisation of the specialised international exhibition EXPO 2027, adding that great revolutionary projects are Serbia’s future.
In the first six months of 2023, the total trade between Serbia and the USA stands at $568.8 million, with exports amounting to $275.3 million and imports $292.9 million. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1881.
