Begovic used the opportunity to present Serbia in the best light by presenting what was done in connection with the investment map, i.e., highlighting the areas that should be invested in, which are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
She explained that the aforementioned goals that the countries of the world have agreed on, under the auspices of the UN, are, among others, that poverty disappear, that children have equal access to education and that the problem of drinking water, renewable energy sources and sustainable cities is solved, noting that the coronavirus pandemic has slowed down the achievement of those goals.
The Minister pointed out that our country's position is that global challenges require global cooperation and that is why, in order to encourage that cooperation, she launched an initiative to declare the International Decade of Science for Sustainability within the UN.
This initiative aims to highlight the role of science in facing global challenges and promoting sustainable development. By advocating this initiative, we want to create a platform for joint action, knowledge exchange and international cooperation on a global level, Begovic said.
During her stay in New York, the Minister also met with Chair of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi, with whom she discussed the ways in which new technologies and science can help overcome global challenges.
The officials agreed that cooperation at the international level is key to solving global challenges and that the declaration of the International Decade of Science for Sustainability will make a significant contribution to that process.
