Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović met with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss the implementation of the first phase of a new gas programme covering the construction of the first section of the Niš-Velika Plana gas pipeline and the modalities of project financing and management.

Đedović Handanović said that concrete steps are being prepared for the start of the project worth over €1 billion, through which internal gas infrastructure and institutional capacity will be strengthened and modernised and support provided to reform activities with the World Bank.
In the first phase, the first section of the Niš-Velika Plana gas pipeline will be built, the Minister said, noting that the new gas pipelines that Serbia builds through this project will enable it to utilise the full potential of gas interconnections with neighbouring countries.
