The exhibition, curated by Claudia Paetzold, the founder of Curating Evolution, was opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Maja Gojkovic, as well as the ministers of culture of North Macedonia and Albania, Bisera Kostadinovska Stojcevska and Elva Margariti respectively.
On that occasion, Gojkovic pointed out that the displayed works of this exhibition, which brought together artists from Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia, best testify to the great artistic potential of the three countries, as well as to the possibilities opened up by the authentic regional initiative Open Balkans.
She stated that the opening of the exhibition "Substrates" practically shows that culture knows no borders, is not enslaved by prejudice and easily overcomes all barriers.
Gojkovic pointed out that the Open Balkans project and everything that has been achieved so far thanks to it, represents an effort to create a new, certainly better image of our region in the world, and at the same time, the initiative is part of the centuries-old aspiration to build bridges of friendship between our peoples.
Kostadinovska Stojcevska said that Open Balkans initiative does not mean that all issues in the Balkans have been resolved, but the opening of the Balkans is a matter of far-sightedness and breadth. The process has been started, and "Substrates" is a proof of the strength of a tree being grown, said Kostadinovska.
Margariti said that she considers symbolical the fact that today, in the great country of "freedom, equality and fraternity", art is united, showing once again the power it has as a language of communication, cooperation and breaking down all barriers.
