Minister of Justice Maja Popovic together with Minister of Justice of Montenegro Marko Kovac opened the conference “Sky application – emergence and challenges in practice” which is being held in Petrovac, Montenegro.
On that occasion, Popovic pointed out that the decoding of the Sky application in the Republic of Serbia contributed to the detection and prevention of the most serious crimes by organised criminal groups, which also operated in the territory of other countries, as well as to the collection of material evidence.
She said that this is why cooperation with other countries is necessary in the fight against transnational organised crime, by obtaining evidence through the decoding of the Sky application.
According to her, cooperation is especially necessary with countries that have the most modern technology, because only they can carry out an expert examination of the electronic devices that contain this application and decode its content.
This requires the improvement of the criminal legislation of each country, as well as the existing mechanism of providing international legal assistance, Popovic pointed out.
