At the opening of an international conference on cadastres and land management, as part of the "Intergeo East 2006" fair, Parivodic pointed out that currently, pursuant to Article 60 of the Serbian Constitution, the state owns city construction land, however an initiative has been launched according to which the owner of the land should be the person who is actually using it.
Parivodic stressed that the Serbian Geodetic Authority has been achieving remarkable results when it comes to merging Land and Cadastre Registers. He also said that once these registers are ordered, municipal authorities in charge of these matters will be able to issue construction licences more easily and quickly. It will also be much easier for citizens to prove ownership of certain immovables, primarily when buying or selling, or even mortgaging their property.
Representative of the German embassy in Serbia-Montenegro Otmar Greiff said that Serbia represents a regional leader in land management and that Germany will continue to help Serbia, since ordering construction, legal and land-ownership matters is a necessary precondition for capital construction and general economic development.
Hansjoerg Schoenherr, representative of the province Baden-Württemberg and Olaf Freier, CEO of the company HINTE, the organizer of the event, were also present at the opening of the conference.
