Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic and Deputy President of the Saudi company “Adbul Latif Jameel” Fady Jameel discussed today the possibilities for cooperation and potential investments in the field of renewable energy sources (RES).
Djedovic said that the drafting of strategic documents that will define Serbia's goals in the energy transition is underway, and that the Government of Serbia recently adopted a plan of priorities containing projects that are key to energy security and reducing dependence on electricity imports.
According to her, in the next 10 years alone it is necessary to invest approximately €15 billion in our energy sector, and the focus of investment will be on the revitalisation of existing and construction of new hydropower plants and investments in RES.
Jameel stated that this company has in its portfolio, among other things, projects in the field of RES and it cooperates with large global companies that are manufacturers of electric cars.
He pointed out that this company wants to be part of the energy transition in different parts of the world and that a large part of its future development is focused on Europe, primarily in the field of solar energy, batteries and hydrogen.
We believe that there are good opportunities for projects in the energy sector in Serbia, and we want to get to know the Serbian market and investment opportunities in Serbia more closely, Jameel said.
