At today's meeting, the government adopted the Decision on declaring natural disasters in 56 cities and municipalities.
In May and June 2023, flash floods and floods of a torrential nature, primarily affecting smaller watercourses and occasionally regulated and controlled sections of larger rivers, have caused damage and potentially threatened the mentioned territories.
Heavy rains and spilled torrents and other watercourses caused damage to regional and local infrastructure, publicly owned public facilities, family residential facilities owned by citizens, and agricultural crops.
At the meeting, a conclusion was made on the formation of a Working Group for the coordination of activities on the remediation of the consequences of floods and the preparation of state aid and reconstruction programs after the floods that hit the Republic of Serbia, which will specify the necessary financial resources for the remediation of the damage.
The working group will be chaired by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and this working group, according to the conclusion, will have daily meetings where the current cross-section of the situation in threatened areas will be presented.
The government will soon record the damage caused in all local self-government units in Serbia and develop a plan for repairing the damage. All citizens, who were affected by floods in any way, will not be forgotten and the government will try to compensate any damage caused in a fair way.
