Vucevic was welcomed by senior national representative Major Dejan Zivanovic, which was followed by a meeting with members of the Serbian Armed Forces, our “blue berets”, engaged in the UNFICYP mission.
At the headquarters of the Mission, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Cyprus and the Head of the UNFICYP mission, Colin Stewart, who informed him about the importance of building trust between the two sides, organizing contacts and negotiations, as well as resolving crisis situations.
Stewart particularly emphasized the exceptional professionalism of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces who are engaged in that mission.
Vucevic also met with the commander of the UN military forces in Cyprus, Major General Ingrid Gjerde, who introduced him to the organization of the military component and the tasks arising from the mandate of the mission, pointing out that the members of the Serbian Armed Forces engaged in UNFICYP, who are assigned to the Command and the multinational platoon of the military police, perform their tasks professionally and responsibly.
