Head of the Serbian government's Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said late yesterday that head of the international negotiating team Marti Ahtisaari interpreted wrongly and incorrectly a statement by the Contact Group and went beyond the limits of his mandate within the UN Security Council, which is the only one that holds a mandate for solving the issue of Kosovo-Metohija.

This is not the first time that conclusions of the Contact Group from the January 31 meeting are interpreted wrongly and incorrectly, Djuric said in a statement to Tanjug news agency, and recalled that the local and international public are familiar with the integral statement from this meeting.
Commenting on Ahtisaari's statement to the German Spiegel magazine that the Contact Group concluded at its last meeting in London that citizens of Kosovo should declare themselves on the future of the province, Djuric said that this is the act of "adding supplementary notes" to the Contact Group's statement.
Djuric said that simply by reading the conclusions it can be confirmed that Ahtisaari, in fact, has wrongly and untruthfully interpreted the statement made by the Contact Group. Ahtisaari did not receive the mandate of the Security Council to interpret the position of the Contact Group according to his personal opinion, let alone to anticipate the final status of Kosovo-Metohija even before the negotiations have begun.
