Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the formal opening of the Wacker Neuson factory in Kragujevac, which will produce steel parts and equipment for construction machines, and in which 200 young people will find work.
Speaking on the occasion, Brnabic pointed out that after many years Kragujevac is once again becoming not only the engine of Serbia's development, but also technologically advanced development, noting that the state has been working on this for a long time.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to our partners, companies and investors from Germany for their trust in Serbia, noting that German investors are among the most cautious, and therefore they are also one of the best and highest quality investors.
According to her, in addition to new jobs and money, they also bring new knowledge, technologies and one of the best business ethics and standards, so they are part of social reforms in Serbia.
She said that Germany is the most important economic and trade partner of our country, as well as the largest bilateral donor, specifying that during 2022, the total foreign trade exchange of goods and services reached approximately €10 billion.
The Prime Minister stated that the exchange of goods alone between the two countries reached a record value of €8.24 billion, pointing out the growing importance of the exchange of services between Serbia and Germany.
When German companies come to invest in a country, then there is no better recommendation for it, because the more German investors come to Serbia, the more foreign direct investment (FDI) we attract, Brnabic emphasised.
The Prime Minister recalled that 2022 was a record year in this sense and that Serbia attracted €4.4 billion in FDI, and that in 2023 there is a possibility that this record will be broken.
According to her, in the first quarter of this year, the level of foreign direct investments amounted to €783.9 million, which is 39.6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
Brnabic said that attracting foreign direct investments for Serbia means new and better-paid jobs, but also overall further progress, pointing out that with the second phase of German investments in Kragujevac, in addition to these 200, an additional 800 jobs will be opened, which means a lot for Serbia.
The Prime Minister also expressed her gratitude to the government of Germany for participating in dual education in Serbia, which facilitated employment for young people, improved their material status and improved their abilities and understanding of the world in which they live.
