Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Sanda Raskovic-Ivic expressed today that the Security Council at its session tomorrow will maintain its position based on Resolution 1244. Raskovic-Ivic expects that during the meeting the preferred stand will be that a solution based on compromise is essential for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.
In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Raskovic-Ivic said that international law is universal that cannot be implemented according to someone’s wishes or aims, she also expressed her conviction that such an approach will receive renewed confirmation at the Security Council session.
She said that any solution cannot be a true one if either side manages to realize all its aims and plans, and the other side is forced to agree. She added that a solution must be reached which will further peace and tolerance, rather than encourage conflict and war.
The United Nations’ Security Council session on Kosovo-Metohija tomorrow will also be attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic; this is the first time that a Serbian president is to participate in such a meeting from since the UN Mission was first set up in the province.
