Improving business environment through digitialisation of customs

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali spoke today with Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation Kunio Mikuriya about improving the work of the Customs Administration and its digitalisation, as well as about strengthening personnel capacities.

Mali reminded that the digitalisation of customs was initiated several years ago and that a lot has already been done to improve its work, noting that the customs reform will be impressive and that Serbia will be an example to other countries.

He explained that the projects for the introduction of e-invoices and e-fiscalisation have already been completed, adding that the digitalisation of customs will complete an important process in the economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that new agreements on free trade are being prepared, which will enable economic growth in Serbia to be even greater.

Mikuriya pointed out that borders divide, but customs connect, stressing that it is important to implement the digitalisation of customs, as well as to implement international standards in this regard.

He supported the “Open Balkans” initiative, which implies a faster and easier protocol of goods, people and services, and expressed the hope that other countries in the region can be influenced to strengthen their economies.
