Dacic said that this historic visit to the Central Asian region included the first official visits of a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia to the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the history of our diplomatic relations.
He emphasised that this region is very important for us because it contains five extremely friendly and traditionally close countries, which are on Serbia's side when it comes to preserving our territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that during his visit to these countries, which represent a bridge to Asia and want good relations with Serbia, and also want Serbia to be a bridge to Europe, our foreign policy position was strengthened when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija.
According to him, none of those countries will recognise Kosovo and Metohija and will continue to support the principled positions of the Republic of Serbia.
Dacic pointed out that on the last day of his visit to that region, in talks with Tajik officials, the country's support for our territorial integrity and sovereignty was once again confirmed, and it was clearly stated that they will not recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Tajikistan expressed its readiness to develop relations with Serbia, adding that last year trade exchange was more than modest, which certainly does not correspond to all the potential for cooperation.
According to him, an agreement was reached to form a mixed committee for cooperation, to hold business forums, as well as to prepare a visit of the President of Tajikistan to Serbia and a visit of the President of Serbia to Tajikistan.
