First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic extended today Passover greetings to members of the Jewish community in Serbia and the entire Jewish people.
"I wish you a happy holiday, peace and prosperity. Passover is a symbol of the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery, but it is also a centuries-old inspiration for all freedom-loving peoples to strive for freedom as the greatest value.
Serbs and Jews are proud of their long common aspiration for freedom and common struggle for that brightest ideal, in which many of our glorious ancestors fell.
In this sense, this Pesach has special significance, because this year the 75th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel is marked and the 80th anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto.
To all members of the Jewish community and the entire Jewish people, I extend greetings over this great holiday and I wish them peace, harmony and progress", reads Dacic's letter of greetings.
