Speaking at a press conference, Milosavljevic said that the sum of €2.2 million invested in the project was provided through a European Investment Bank loan, as part of the Serbian Ministry of Health's project for urgent reconstruction of health centres in Serbia.
According to Milosavljevic, since the beginning of reconstruction works in August 2005, the laundry-room and part of the attic have been reconstructed, operational theatres air-conditioned, the hospital ventilated and the computer network renewed.
Milosavljevic added that reconstruction works of the hospital's heating system have entered the final phase, but that the hospital has not and will not remain without heating.
The minister said that the state should do more to increase the birth-rate and that all members of society should recognise their role in it.
Director of GAK “Narodni Front” Slobodan Runic pointed out that the newly reconstructed ward will considerably ease the work of the clinic's staff and provide better hospitalisation conditions.
Runic announced the forthcoming opening of a new ward for one-day hospitalisation of endoscopic patients.
