Formation of Community of Serb Municipalities priority obligation

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said this evening in Ohrid, after a new round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, that an agreement was reached on several points that will become part of the negotiation framework for both sides.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues Miroslav Lajcak and Prime Minister of the interim institutions of self-government in Pristina Albin Kurti, Vucic said that some kind of progress has been made and that he is satisfied with it.

It is important that the key point is that the European Council will assess how much each side fulfilled from the implementation plan, which will probably be expanded, he emphasised and added that this plan states that we have taken note of the fact that the EU will include it as part of the negotiation process.

The President pointed out that it is of great importance that the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities is a priority obligation in accordance with the previous agreements within the dialogue.

Vucic underlined that even today he did not sign anything and that he made it clear what our red lines are, with the assessment that progress has been made in a constructive atmosphere.

He announced that tomorrow he will present every point to the citizens of Serbia and explain everything that happened in Ohrid, pointing out that he will start receiving representatives of parliamentary groups from Monday because we have serious work ahead of us in the months ahead.

High-level talks between Belgrade and Pristina began in Ohrid this morning, which deal with the finalisation of the Annex on the implementation of the EU Agreement on the path to the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, who convened the meeting, with the support of EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues Miroslav Lajcak, held separate meetings with Vucic and Kurti, followed by trilateral talks.

The meetings, led by Borrell and Lajcak, were also attended by US Deputy Assistant Secretary overseeing policy towards the countries of the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, in the capacity of an observer.

Previously, Vucic met with Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski, to whom he expressed his gratitude for wanting to contribute to the constructive continuation of the dialogue, as a good host.
