Dacic congratulates Chinese foreign minister on his appointment as state councilor

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic today sent a letter of congratulations to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Qin Gang on the occasion of his appointment to the position of State Councilor.

"Dear friend, Excellency,

On the occasion of your election to another important position - the position of State Councilor of the People's Republic of China, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, I send you my heartiest congratulations, with the best wishes for your good health, personal happiness and much success in the performance of this responsible duty.

We very much look forward to the further strengthening of the friendly People's Republic of China, both domestically and internationally, under the leadership of the wise Chinese leadership, with the firm belief that your election to this extremely important position will significantly contribute to the further all-round development, progress and well-being of your country and the Chinese people who is very close to us.

With particular satisfaction over the outstanding overall relations between the Republic of Serbia and the People's Republic of China, which are at the highest level in their history, I would like to reiterate to you our strong readiness and sincere commitment to further enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries, on the basis of steel friendship, as well as for the continuation of intensive and mutually beneficial cooperation within the "Belt and Road" initiative and the mechanism of the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Allow me to repeat on this occasion the deepest gratitude of the Republic of Serbia for the continuous support of the People's Republic of China to our sovereignty and territorial integrity, an issue of essential national importance. The support and understanding of your country, one of the key factors in modern international relations, is extremely important for us. In this sense, I assure you that the decisive and consistent support of the Republic of Serbia to the One China policy and the "one country, two systems" principle will be continued in the same spirit in the period ahead.
