Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic met today with OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Rolf Ekeus and briefed him on the situation in Serbia concerning minority rights.

They especially discussed the status of ethnic Albanians in the South of Serbia and ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina.
Ekeus said he is pleased with the Ministry's efforts regarding the affirmation of the principle of positive discrimination when electing members of the minorities for positions in the judiciary. He also praised the fact that in Serbia, members of ethnic minorities can approach courts in their minority language.
Stojkovic and Ekeus reiterated the importance of efficient conclusion of inter-ethnic proceedings and said that cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and OSCE Mission in Belgrade is satisfactory.
