On opening a scientific meeting on elementary school education called "Pedagogical Research and School Practice", Vuksanovic told teachers to try and attain the ideal balance in class, which implies that they should spend one-third of the time teaching new lessons and two-thirds revising and experimenting.
According to Vuksanovic, lessons should be adjusted in such a way that students have enough time for contemplation, experimenting and drawing conclusions, which is the very point of teaching regardless of the school subject.
Vuksanovic opened the seminar today at Belgrade's "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school. The event was jointly organised by the Serbian Ministry of Education and Sport, the British Council and the American and British embassies in Belgrade.
The Minister pointed out that learning foreign languages is now beyond any discussion because they have been taught in Serbia for over eighty years now, and it goes without saying it will be so in the future, though the problem of the lack of language teachers remains.
The seminar is one of the 23 seminars that will be held all over Serbia by January 19 as part of professional development of 1,000 English teachers working with children aged seven to ten.
