Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević met today in Budapest with Minister of Construction and Transport of Hungary János Lázár to discuss the continuation of the highly successful cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of road and railway infrastructure development.

The meeting also discussed key topics that will contribute to the efficient and safe establishment of future railway transport on the Belgrade-Budapest route.
Sofronijević emphasised that the high-speed rail between Belgrade and Budapest is one of the most important joint infrastructure projects of Serbia and Hungary, which is of strategic importance not only for the two countries, but also for the wider region.
By putting the high-speed rail into operation, Serbia will gain a modern, reliable and efficient rail connection with Hungary and further with Central Europe. This project brings concrete benefits to citizens, shorter travel times, greater security, stronger economic development and new investment opportunities, the Minister emphasised.
