In a statement to the Beta news agency, Vuksanovic said that the British Education Secretary, who inaugurated in London today the International Education Fair, showed significant understanding for everything that has been done in the reformation process so far.
Vuksanovic recalled that the Serbian delegation also took part in the event preceding the London Education Fair - the International Conference of Education Ministers held January 9-11, after which it was concluded that Serbia is currently dealing with the same education issues as all other developed or developing countries. The representatives of African, European and all other countries shared the conviction of the Serbian delegation that elementary school teachers and teaching staff in general are of key importance to successful education.
Vuksanovic added that one of the main themes of the conference was a nonviolent behaviour policy or teaching children how to live and work in a nonviolent environment, both in school and society in general.
Vuksanovic, who is also the only education minister to hold a separate meeting with Ruth Kelly, invited the British Education Secretary to visit schools and universities in Serbia.
During the meeting, Kelly showed particular interest in introducing foreign languages as obligatory course in school curriculum, thus proving familiarity with an international contract signed between the Serbian Ministry of Education and Sport and the British Council in Serbia on organisation of seminars and teacher training programmes for English teachers in Serbia, concluded Vuksanovic.
