Serbian State Secretary of Health Nevena Karanovic and representatives of the Ministry's Quality Committee visited today the Savski Venac health centre. Due to its achievements in 2005, the centre has been the first-ranked in Belgrade, and the second-ranked in Serbia among the total of 159 health centres.

Director of the centre Mirjana Velimirovic pointed out that the centre pays a lot of attention to team work and further professional development of doctors, which has helped to improve the quality of service in the centre.
She said that the Savski Venac health centre employs 362 people, out of which 180 are doctors and dentists.
According to Velimirovic, general practitioners tend to between 1,200 and 1,800 patients a year, and as of 2007, when a new way of paying for health services is to be applied, their salaries will depend on the number of patients they receive.
