Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic spoke today, during a working visit to Switzerland, with Swiss Federal Minister for Environmental Protection, Transport, Energy and Communication Simonetta Sommaruga.
On that occasion, Momirovic said that the work on the electrification of certain sections in Serbia will continue, while options for purchasing new hybrid trains from Switzerland that have both electric and battery power for those sections that are not electrified will be considered.
According to him, first of all, work will begin on the electrification of the railway from Nis to Dimitrovgrad (Bulgaria), and funds have also been allocated for the electrification of the railway from Stalac to Kraljevo.
In this way, as he explained, the entire south of Serbia will be able to use the Bar railway with significant financial and time savings.
During the working visit to Switzerland, the Minister together with the directors of the companies "Srbija voz", "Infrastruktura zeleznica Srbija" and "Srbija Kargo" visited the company "SBB" - Swiss Federal Railways.
