Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met today with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Christophe Lutundula Apala.
In his address to reporters after the meeting, Selakovic said that this is an opportunity for Serbia to once again highlight its strong determination to nurture and strengthen traditionally good and friendly relations with African countries, among which DR Congo holds a special place for us.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs also emphasised on this occasion that Serbia supports the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of DR Congo, providing unreserved support to efforts to overcome existing security challenges.
I use this opportunity to emphasise once again that Serbia highly values DR Congo's firm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country and complete commitment to the generally accepted principles of international public law, which both Serbia and DR Congo share, Selakovic said.
Lutundula said that his country is committed to the principles of respect for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of states by all countries of the world.
When it comes to Serbia, I can assure you on behalf of the president and government of DR Congo that we support the territorial integrity and unity of Serbia, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of DR Congo.
According to him, the president and the people of DR Congo attach great importance to the partnership with Serbia, and hope to continue and strengthen cooperation, among other things, through the adoption of an agreement that would take into account the current needs of the two countries.
