The Vice-President of the European Commission came accompanied by the representatives of the EU Delegation in Serbia, headed by Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret and President of the City Municipality of Obrenovac Milos Stanojevic.
After talking with the migrants who live in this centre, Schinas expressed his satisfaction with the conditions he encountered, especially when it comes to infrastructure.
He said that he will speak tomorrow with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic about how the European Union can additionally help Serbia in solving issues related to migrants.
The Asylum Centre in Obrenovac was partially reconstructed with the funds of the European Union from 2019 to 2020, through a project worth €3.2 million.
There are currently 785 migrants in this facility, most of them from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
