This traditional event has been regularly organised by the ministry for five years, and children, teachers and wardens were greeted by Assistant Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Sladjana Markovic.
More than 20 actors and singers took part in the performance, and children were given New Year’s presents at the end.
According to the data of the ministry, the system of social care in Serbia rests on 250 establishments-133 centres for social work, 20 homes for children without parental care, 16 homes for persons with hindered growth and 38 homes for the elderly.
Daily care is provided by 9,200 workers to 1,700 children without parental care, 1,500 children with hindered growth, 160 children with behaviour disorders, 340 adult persons with disabilities, 3,100 adult persons with hindered mental development and psychological disorders, 9,500 pensioners and 3,000 children who have been placed in foster families.
