Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic and Pristina negotiator Besnik Bisljimi led the delegations of Belgrade and Pristina at talks with mediators of the European Union in Brussels today.
During the first part of the talks, with the mediation of EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak, the delegations agreed on a roadmap for the start of implementation of the energy agreement, reached in 2013 and 2015.
The roadmap represents a series of steps, deadlines and responsibilities of both sides that will start from the moment of giving a licence to “Elektrosever” for electricity supply, which also entails distribution services of billing, payment collection, network maintenance and physical connection of consumers.
After the talks, Petkovic explained that this means that we have independence in supplying the north of the province with electricity, by which we preserved peace and stability and ensured regular electricity supply.
He underlined that all legal obligations of every consumer in the north of Kosovo and Metohija start running from the moment they sign a contract with “Elektrosever” and that before that, no one can charge anything in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.
Petkovic added that the agreement on the roadmap for the implementation of the energy agreement opens the door to the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, which was a condition of the Pristina authorities.
