Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with Provincial Minister of Economy, Tourism, Region, Science and Research Barbara Eibinger-Miedl and representatives of the Austrian delegation.
The Prime Minister stated that she is satisfied with the fact that there is interest from Styrian businessmen to invest in the Serbian market, for which, as she explained, there are great potentials, especially when it comes to science and the IT sector.
The Prime Minister pointed out that exports in the information technology sector are becoming the carrier of the Serbian economy, and that the goal is its further development as the key to success in the future.
She assessed that, in addition to investing in the IT sector, digital transformation has also been one of the priorities in the last few years.
Brnabic reminded that in 2017, the government started the complete digitalisation of education and connecting schools to high-speed internet, the introduction of digital classrooms and textbooks, but also the digitalisation of public administration, which gave exceptional results.
Also, as the Prime Minister pointed out, Serbia is among the first European countries to introduce coding and programming as compulsory subjects in primary schools.
Eibinger-Miedl pointed out that Styria is a region with a very developed IT sector that recognizes Serbia as a good partner precisely because of the accelerated development in this field.
She assessed that, considering that Austria is the second country in terms of investment in Serbia, it is necessary to use these potentials to establish stronger cooperation.
Also, bearing in mind that digitalisation and green transition are priority areas for the province of Styria, the Minister expressed confidence that cooperation will develop in this direction as well.
Speaking about the possibilities of partnership, Prime Minister Brnabic stated that Serbia is working intensively on the development of artificial intelligence and biotechnology, and that these would be areas in which successful cooperation could be achieved, not only at the state level, but also through universities and institutes. exchange of experiences, students and professional staff.
