Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today in Kragujevac that 1,550 employees in Fiat's car factory will keep their jobs, while 500 employees will be redundant.
At a press conference in the building of the City Administration in Kragujevac, after a meeting with unions and representatives of the Stellantis Group, of which the Fiat Serbia factory is a part, Brnabic stated that 500 employees, including all vulnerable categories, include pregnant women, mothers with children, the disabled and families in the process of in vitro fertilisation, are safe and will be receiving 100 percent of their earnings as of 1 July, compared to 65 percent they have received so far, because there was no significant production.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the second category of approximately 1,000 employees includes those needed for the production of electric vehicles that the Stellantis Group will make in Kragujevac.
She mentioned that they will spend 18 to 24 months working in Stellantis' factories in Slovakia, Poland, Italy and Germany, after which they are guaranteed to return to work in Kragujevac.
Brnabic added that they will be able to apply from tomorrow until the end of June if they are interested in working abroad.
The Prime Minister said that the conditions for the departure of employees abroad were also agreed – €11,000 bonus before departure, a minimum salary of €800 (Slovakia) and €850 (Poland) and a bonus of €6,000 upon return to Serbia, while their families will be provided health insurance.
According to her, it was agreed to form a working group that will determine the amount of severance pay and the position of people who do not want severance pay and do not want to go abroad.
The working group will consist of representatives of trade unions, employees, the Development Agency of Serbia and the government of Serbia, said Brnabic.
