Andreas Zobel and Miroljub Labus
Speaking at the promotion of the books “European Union Integration” by Director of the Serbian EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic, and “Lexicon of Social Market Economy” by a group of authors, Labus said that a European future is before the country and it depends on the people how fast it can be realised.
According to Labus, in talks that representatives of Serbia held recently in countries of the EU, it has been confirmed that countries of the West Balkans, according to the Thessaloniki Agenda of 2003, will become part of the EU as they themselves resolve their internal problems and qualify for membership.
German Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Andreas Zobel said that Germany has a vital interest in helping the countries of South East Europe get closer to the EU, provided they fulfil necessary preconditions.
Zobel said that the road to Europe is the best one for Serbia, and that well-being and progress can be achieved only within a community, and not in isolation.
According to Zobel, the priority of every German government is indeed stability in the Balkans, because Germany feels the consequences of instability in the region in a very particular manner, and only a stable and successful Serbia can contribute to regional stability.
