Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that she is not worried about the inflow of gas through the Balkan Stream through Bulgaria to Serbia, estimating that just mentioning the possibility of taking Serbian gas in transit is out of place.
In a statement to the press at the Jahorina Economic Forum, Brnabic assessed that taking Serbian gas in transit would be a precedent that has never been seen before.
That would mean that there are no contracts, contractual obligations, rule of law, she emphasised and added that it would practically mean that goods on trucks in transit, if someone likes, can be taken.
The Prime Minister pointed out that if someone took gas in transit, it would lead to the fact that there is no security for anyone in Europe and the world, reminding that Serbia has invested over a billion euros in the gas pipeline.
We paid for the gas, it is ours, we have a supply agreement with Russia. It happened that it passes through Bulgaria, that they have problems, but Bulgarian problems are not our problems, Brnabic pointed out.
She expressed hope that Poland and Bulgaria would succeed in agreeing on gas supplies.
I am interested in how people live in Serbia, and any disturbance in the EU would have negative consequences for the economy of our country. The calmer and more stable, the better for us, the Prime Minister concluded.
