The new concert hall of the Belgrade Philharmonic is the largest cultural investment in the region in decades. Located next to the historical Palace of Serbia in New Belgrade, the project represents an exceptional dedication to building a brighter, more sustainable future of the city, according to the vision of Ivan Tasovac.
With more premises for performances, rehearsals and creative work, including a symphony concert hall with 1,600 seats, this hall will be the first of its kind in the Balkans, an internationally recognised world-class musical performance platform which will contribute to the social, economic and ecological development of Serbia.
Acting Director of the Belgrade Philharmonic Darko Krstic said that the design solution of the AL_A studio not only celebrates the uniqueness of the orchestra, but it also offers an accessible, special and attractive place for social gatherings in Serbia’s capital, celebrating the lifestyle of Belgrade as a European metropolis and the new home of the Belgrade Philharmonic, as it deserves, Krstic said.
Director of AL_A Amanda Levete underlined that the magnificent surroundings of Usce Park, on the banks of the River Danube, send out a powerful message of transformation and return to nature of our cities so that we could make them greener and more beautiful. She added that that is a great place from which to send the message of Serbia’s vision for the future.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic underlined that the concert hall of the Belgrade Philharmonic is currently the largest infrastructure project in the field of culture in Serbia and the region, but also one of the largest in Europe.
I am proud that the realisation of this decades-old dream of many of our professional musicians, young talent, music fans and citizens of Serbia is finally on the horizon and I believe that precisely the construction of this concert hall will be one of the greatest cultural legacies of this government, the Prime Minister said.
According to her, it is clear how important it is to invest in culture and education, as pillars of a successful and strong modern state, which the state has so far shown by many similar projects.
This hall will certainly become a new landmark of Belgrade and will attract new visitors to our country, and it will also contribute to a better quality of life of all our citizens with its rich cultural programme, Brnabic stated.
The Prime Minister expressed her conviction that this will become another hub for making contacts and exchange of knowledge, creative ideas and experiences of both domestic and foreign artists alike.
