Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus and EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana talked today about cooperation with the Hague tribunal, a referendum in Montenegro, and Kosovo-Metohija.
Solana said that full cooperation with the Hague tribunal is necessary for Serbia-Montenegro's further integration process.
He also pointed to the importance of the upcoming referendum in Montenegro, which has to be organised in line with democratic standards. Solana said that both the opposition and authorities in Montenegro are expected to apply recommendations of the Venetian commission on the rules of holding a referendum.
Speaking about cooperation with the Hague tribunal, Labus said that the Serbian government is firmly resolved to meet in full its obligations.
As for the referendum in Montenegro, Labus pointed to the importance of applying fair conditions, the participation of the opposition and the respect for international rules. He added that Belgrade will respect any decision that the citizens of this republic make.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that in the upcoming talks on Kosovo-Metohija, it is necessary to secure such a status that will guarantee the protection of human rights of Serbs and all other citizens.
He said that the development of the entire region, from Nis to Pristina and Skopje, cannot be secured without economic growth and the support of the international community in the form a new donors' conference.
