Summarising the results of talks with the representatives of the newly appointed German government and parliament in a statement to the Beta news agency, Raskovic-Ivic said that her interlocutors support the position of reaching a compromise and an un-imposed solution to the Kosovo issue.
Germany does not have a pre-prepared model for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija and its position is that a solution must be reached through diplomatic means, by finding a compromise between the Serbs and ethnic Albanians in Kosovo and respecting the security situation in the region and the rights of Serbs and other non-ethnic Albanians, said Raskovic-Ivic.
The head of the Coordinating Centre, who had travelled to Berlin at the invitation of the German Foreign Ministry, met today with Hans-Dietrich Lucas, head of the department for southeastern Europe in the chancellor’s cabinet. The two officials discussed the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the Serbian government’s plans for resolving the issue.
Germany particularly appreciates the Serbian government’s efforts in improving good neighbouring relations, said Raskovic-Ivic and stressed that her German interlocutors convinced her of Berlin’s support to Serbia in its efforts towards the EU integration and democratisation of its society.
During her visit to Berlin, accompanied by Aleksandar Simic, Advisor to the Serbian Prime Minister and member of Serbia’s negotiating team on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, Raskovic-Ivic also met with several representatives of the German government and parliament.
Raskovic-Ivic talked with Political Director in the German Foreign Ministry Michael Scheffer, State Secretary of the German Foreign Ministry Klaus Scharioth and representatives and members of the German Bundestag. She also gave several lectures on the Kosovo-Metohija issue.
