The Serbian government decided today to limit the prices of basic foodstuffs: crystal sugar, flour type Т- 400, edible sunflower oil, pork - leg and UHT milk with 2.8% of milk fat, to the level that existed on the day of 15 November 2021.
The limitation of prices has been introduced in order to remove negative consequences and prevent market disturbances and will not apply to reduced prices (sales, seasonal discounts or promotional sales) if they were in force on 15 November 2021, but to the regular prices, i.e. the ones before discounts.
The decision, which will be applied in the duration of 60 days, stipulates that producers must not deliver these products in quantities lower than the average for the past 12 months. In case of violation of these provisions, fines in the amount from RSD 100,000 to RSD 2,000,000 are envisaged, as well as the prohibition of the economic activity in the duration from six months to one year.
Bearing in mind the drastic increase in electricity prices on stock exchanges over the past few months, the Serbian government adopted the Conclusion on electricity price for the backup electricity supply of end users who are not entitled to guaranteed supply after 1 December 2021.
This act determines the price of electricity for the companies that would make contracts on backup supply, and which would enable their further business activity and the creation of a climate for preserving the favourable business environment in the Republic of Serbia. The established price of electricity will be applied until the situation at the relevant stock exchange gets stabilised.
In order to avert consequences which increased electricity prices would have on the overall market in the Republic of Serbia, the government passed the Conclusion on the regulation of mutual rights and obligations between the public power utility company “Elektroprivreda Srbije” Beograd and buyers of electricity on the commercial market.
The conclusion enables all buyers whose contract expires on 30 November 2021 to extend the validity of the contract to 31 December 2021.
In this way, they could keep the contract terms which they have had until now, first and foremost the price of electricity, for another 30 days.
As for the group of buyers who concluded contracts on electricity supply with “Elektroprivreda Srbije” that come into force on 1 December 2021, the delayed application allows for the same treatment as with the buyers who are covered by the previous decision, and with their consent, the application will be postponed to 1 January 2022.
