Though a reduction in administrative problems during the construction of the sales centre, said Labus, the Serbian government and the municipal authorities have helped to overcome any issues, and the bottom line is that the citizens will profit from the new centre.
The Merkur sales centre in Bezanijska Kosa occupies 10,000 square metres and approximately €10 million was invested in it. It now offers an assortment of 30,000 domestic appliances, bath items, small kitchen appliances, equipment for gardening, lighting, audio equipment, wood products and paints.
Director of Merkur Group Bine Kordez announced that in the next five years, his company will invest an additional sum of €50 million in the construction of eight retail outlets in Serbia.
Director of “Merkur International Beograd” Zoran Cvijovic said that a sales centre will be opened in Novi Sad next year, and another one in Belgrade in 2007.
He added that Merkur offers quality products and has 70 employees at the customers’ disposal. It also provides free transport of goods up to a distance 15 kilometres, favourable payment terms and a parking lot that can hold 400 vehicles.
Merkur was founded in 1986, has 33 outlets in Slovenia, supplies one third of the technical products market, and has achieved an €800 million turnover this year.
