Labus said that there is still a misbalance in exchange of goods between the two countries, but that that will be neutralised by an influx of investment by reliable and good Czech firms. He invited Czech companies to actively take part in the privatisation process in Serbia, as well as in the process of forming new enterprises in Serbia.
Labus said that the projects where Czech capital is particularly welcome, among others, is privatisation in the area of insurance, including companies such as Azotara Pancevo, Kolubara “B” as well as others.
Labus recalled that the freedom of movement of goods also implies freedom of movement for people, because of which, he said, the issue of the visa regime and the agreement on readmission was also discussed in the talks, a matter concerning which agreements have to be concluded with several other member countries of the European Union, so that steps can be made towards the white Schengen list.
Paroubek said that the Czech Republic is interested in seeing Serbia step by step getting closer and in time entering the European Union, and also that the Czech Republic will do all in its power to help realise that.
He said that on the political and economical level, the bilateral relations of the two countries will be developed within the scope of the framework of European cooperation. He added that the good political relations between the two countries were emphasised in the talks, and that the future offers room for further improvement of these and of economic relations.
Paroubek said that in talks concerning economic relations special attention was given to cooperation in the energy sector, food and chemical industries, insurance and privatisation of Serbian enterprises, in which Czech firms are particularly interested.
Paroubek said that major Czech firms are especially interested in participating in privatisation of the insurance sector in Serbia, noting that a contract on cooperation will be signed between the chambers of commerce of the two countries today.
He said that the Czech Republic will do everything possible to sign the agreement on readmission in the first half of the upcoming year, adding that preparation for the agreement on succession issues was also discussed in the talks, which will be prepared by the assistant ministers of finance of three countries- Serbia, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
The Czech Prime Minister also offered training on transition within Czech ministries to representatives of Serbian ministries.
