According to the report of the World Economic Forum, Iceland ranks first in the field of gender equality. This is the 12th time that this country holds the first place on this list. The second is Finland and the third is the Kingdom of Norway.
As for the region of the Western Balkans Albania ranks 25th, the Republic of Croatia 45th, Montenegro is three places below, whereas Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 76th.
The aim of this index, which has been published once a year since 2006, is the evaluation of gender gaps in different spheres of life and the measuring of the progress achieved.
The report also contains data on the link between gender quality and the economic success of states, as well as related implications on the political and business practices.
