The Serbian government adopted today a Bill on changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia in the part relating to courts and public prosecutor's offices and other consequential parts of the highest general legal act of the country.
With this initiative, the Serbian government and the Ministry of Justice have reaffirmed their strong commitment to implementing reform processes and fulfilling the activities of the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23.
The proposal refers to changes in the provisions of Article 4 of the Constitution and provisions relating to courts and public prosecutor's offices (Articles 142-165). Accordingly, the provisions of Article 99 - Jurisdiction of the National Assembly, Article 105 - The manner of decision-making in the National Assembly and Article 172 - Election and appointment of judges of the Constitutional Court are also changed.
Changing the Constitution in the area of justice is a necessary step in further strengthening the rule of law and further harmonisation with the European acquis and standards.
The government also adopted an Action Plan for the implementation of the strategy for the development of the public information system in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020-2025, in the period 2020-2022.
The Ministry of Culture and Information will manage the implementation of the Action Plan, the implementation of the Media Strategy, as well as the development of a set of new media laws.
The goal of the strategy is to improve the public information system that guarantees freedom of expression, freedom of the media, security of journalists, media pluralism, a developed media market and a strengthened media profession.
The government also adopted a Conclusion on the establishment of a temporary project - Convenience Card "For our heroes" for employees, peoples who are hired and volunteers in the COVID-19 system, which provides them with certain benefits due to difficult living and working conditions during the pandemic.
