Within the industrial space belonging to Nis-based machinery manufacturer MIN, a “Business Incubator Centre” was opened today, which, according to plans, should grow to become an industrial park.
The business incubator was established under the project Enstrans, approved in September 2004 and funded by the Norwegian government. The major international partner in the implementation of this project is Sintef, which is the Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research at the Norwegian Institute of Technology.
The national partner in the project is the Serbian Ministry of Economy, while the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises is in charge of implementation. The founders are the city of Nis, with 51 percent, and the regional Agency for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Nis, with a 49 percent stake.
The business incubator in Nis will draw attention of the European incubator community and the city will get on the international map of incubator development.
The opening ceremony was attended by Norwegian Ambassador in Belgrade Hans Ula-Orstad, representatives of the Serbian government, Nis Mayor Smiljko Kostic, and local businesspeople.
