At the meeting, they discussed the issue of contracts signed on behalf of the Serbia-Montenegrin Ministry of Defence on August 25, 2005. Tadic and Kostunica concluded that these contracts could inflict immeasurable damage to the Serbia-Montenegrin Army, as well as to the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, and the Republic of Serbia. For this reason, the President and the Prime Minister demand that the Serbia-Montenegrin Council of Ministers terminate these contracts immediately.
Given the objective responsibility on the part of Minister of Defence Prvoslav Davinic for the signing of these contracts, Tadic and Kostunica believe that Minister Davinic must resign. Also, it is necessary to establish the full responsibility of the Ministry of Defence for the signing of these contracts.
It was also acknowledged that neither the Serbian President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, nor the Army Chief of Staff were familiar with the signing of these contracts.
Also, the participants in the meeting unanimously concluded that all necessary measures must be taken to continue with military reform, which is essential for the country’s accession to the Partnership for Peace and for ensuring a stable and efficient functioning of the Serbia-Montenegrin Army.
