Vojislav Kostunica
Kostunica said in a public statement to UN Special Envoy for Implementation of Standards in Kosovo-Metohija, Ambassador Kai Eide and UNMIK chief Soren Jessen-Petersen, that last night’s murder of two young Serbian men and the wounding of two more in the Strpce municipality, represents a form of brutal terror for the remaining Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.
The Prime Minister pointed out that ethnic Albanian terrorists are once again, by resorting to murder, sending a message to Serbs that they can chose between death and persecution. According to him, the worst thing is that this is a permanent message for the Serbian population, which dates back from July 1999, since the UN Mission to Kosovo-Metohija had come to the province to establish peace and security.
“I wish to hear from you, loudly and clearly, what kind of standards exist, when young men are being killed only because they are Serbs, while their murderers are left unpunished,” stated Kostunica and added that last night we witnessed once again what kind of standards exist for the remaining Serbian population. He said that anyone who thinks it is possible to achieve political goals, by committing terror against Serbs in Kosovo, is highly mistaken.
“The UN security forces must finally do everything that is necessary to protect the Serbian population from daily harassment, persecution and physical destruction, and to immediately arrest and bring the terrorists to justice,” stressed the Serbian Prime Minister.
