The Serbian parliament abolished late today the Law on the establishment of the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS), thus creating conditions for the company to start working under a new organisational scheme as of October 1. The abolition of the law was supported by 122 members of the parliament, with four voting against it.

With the abolition of the Law on the establishment of NIS, the national oil company will be transformed into two public companies and one joint-stock company, the Beta news agency reported.
One public company will deal with transport of oil and oil derivatives and the other with transport, distribution, storage and trade of gas. The joint-stock company will specialise in the research, production, processing, distribution and trade of oil and oil derivatives, and research and production of natural gas.
