Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic, and Minister of Agriculture of the DR Congo Joseph Antoine Kasonga signed today the Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture.
Nedimovic stressed that the document will enable the transfer of agricultural technology and knowledge to this African country, explaining that Serbia will export technology in the field of seed production of certain crops, primarily wheat, corn and soybeans.
He stated that a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Congo will visit the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops "NS Seme" in Novi Sad, and also agreed that a team of experts from Serbia implements the production of wheat, corn and soybeans at a suitable location in Congo.
The Minister announced that in the second half of 2020, representatives of the Ministry together with businessmen from Serbia will go to the Congo to see the potential for investment in the agricultural sectors.
Nedimovic said that during the visit to Serbia, the delegation of the Congo will visit the companies that produce tractors "Agropanonka" and "Tafe", i.e., IMT.
The Minister emphasised that Congo has a population of approximately 90 million and borders nine countries, which is an incredible potential for trade in agricultural products.
