Novi Sad’s Sloboda bridge to be finished in late September

Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic said today that the completion of the reconstruction of Novi Sad’s Sloboda bridge has been targeted for late September and he added that it will facilitate the implementation of a series of other projects on the Danube River.

During his visit to the construction site, Ilic said that the bridge will be opened after October 1 and that it will be tested on September 16 and 17.
The works on the protective fence, road insulation, and painting are being carried out simultaneously and according to plan, said Geoffrey Tremlet, chief engineer at supervisory firm Louis Berger.
The Sloboda bridge was destroyed during the 1999 NATO bombardment of Yugoslavia and its reconstruction, financed by the EU through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will cost more than €30 million.
