The Serbian government adopted at its session today the Bill on the science fund of the Republic of Serbia, which should improve the field of scientific research activity and ensure its continuous development towards a knowledge-based society.
The basic role of the fund will be the financing of scientific research projects within a programme that involves greater competitiveness and quality of results, more efficient application of research, openness and availability of all programmes and projects, as well as the development of scientific staff.
The fund will make available international projects to scientists, it will enable cooperation with the scientific diaspora and the economic sector and guarantee protection of intellectual property and copyright.
Institutional funding will ensure the stability of the work of scientific institutions and researchers themselves. For year 2019, RSD 500 million will be provided from the budget of the Republic of Serbia for the establishment and operation of the fund, establishment of information system and financing of projects.
