Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic said at a conference themed "Southeastern Europe on the road to the European Union", which closed yesterday in Zagreb, that no solution for the Kosovo problem that would be imposed by force could be sustainable.

The conference focused on strategies for political transformation in southeastern Europe and accession to the EU. Special attention was paid to the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, for which Covic said that as long as disintegration processes exist, it will not be possible to secure stability in the region because in every disintegration, space is created for new tensions.
"At the beginning of the 21st century, there is a region in Europe where part of the population live in fear and where children go to school escorted by military transporters", Covic said, pointing out the intolerably difficult position of Serbs and non-Albanians in the province. He stressed that the only right way to solve these problems is to follow in European values.
