Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija of the Serbian government Marko Djuric today expressed the belief that maintaining the status quo without reaching a compromise solution for the Kosovo-Metohija issue is not sustainable and is not in our interest, and added that for Serbia, everything apart from a solution is unfavourable.
Djuric warned at a news conference that new problems and conflicts could be expected if the agreement is not reached, and reiterated that Belgrade wants an agreement.
He stressed that it is the duty of the authorities to fight for the agreement to be reached and warned that, if that doesn’t happen, it is certain that in the next few years we can expect new problems and conflicts, everything ugly that we want to avoid in every way.
Asked to comment on the invitation of Sulejman Ugljanin to Bezet Pacolli to visit Sandzak as the foreign minister of Kosovo, Djuric said that it will not be allowed that anyone in the Raska region endanger the rights of citizens and harm inter-ethnic relations.
He said that those who did something like that and made such an invitation want to cause some kind of problems in the Raska region, in order to use it for causing further tensions and achieving some of their goals, adding that the reaction of Serbia will be peaceful and balanced, and in no way hasty.
